In 2021, I joined Biomerieux to develop a proof of concept. My objectives was to create a new way to train the teams & customers remotly due Covid-19 with a complete certifying 3D App working with an LMS [Learning Managment System]. This technology and the assets developped during this project are able to be use in severals situation, as for training purposes or communication one. Thanks to this 3D App, this international pharmaceutical laboratory is also able to reduce its carbon footprint due to a reduction of travel of them trainer. Finally the final product is also preferred, due to its game aspect which is more efficient for learning workflows.
How to train people since Covid-19? How will be the future of learning in the industry? How to be more sustainable? Today's question are challenging in Design and technology. For Biomerieux I tried to answer it in term of Design by develop a complete 3D app journey to train them teams & customers worldly. By creating an environment in a 3D app that reproduce a laboratory, designing the best UX Design we could apply the latest gamification process.
The first step of this project was to understand the need of Biomerieux in them initial training journey. How the teams and customers are already trained. The initial objective was so to produce a Proof of Concept [POC] and choose the technology which will be used for the production and design a first draft before production.
The first step was to organize severals interview with internal and external stakeholders, audit the digital environment and try few differents technology. Create all the design of the App and website hosting the WebGL. A first draft was produced with a Three.js technology, a Javascript solution. This first results permit to choose an other technology which will be use for production, Unreal Engine. and finally the final design of the app with testing review and pentest associated.
The 3D App designed as a POC was fully adopted by teams and customers, Biomerieux expect for 2024 after deployment of several training to be able to reduce them expense on trainings by 30% and them trainer travel footprint. They also agreed in a near future to transform this training as a financial asset by integrating it, into a service to them customers on a new plateform.
